Today was the first day of school! Again! I started my spring semester at Arcadia University and let me tell you, walking into the classroom for the first time never gets any easier. I remember all the anxiety I used to have walking in the first day as a college student.
But seriously...that's weird for like .2 seconds. You walk in, everyone looks up, you sit down, everyone looks away.
As the professor though, you walk in, everyone stares and everyone continues to stare. For an hour!
I got through it! Twice today! I'm pretty sure if I wanted to one day, I could just walk in and sit down and no one would have any idea that I was the professor. Until I stood up and handed out the syllabus. I think most students are watching me wondering...is she a student? And...if she isn't a student...how much work will she assign?*
Anyway, I'm currently teaching a course I designed on Young Adult Fiction and meeting my class for the first time was so much fun! Our first book is Looking For Alaska by John Green which...no surprise, half of the class has already read.
And you know what...they're all so excited about reading it again! I never saw so many smiles or sparks in eyes as I did today.
So John Green readers and the soon to be John Green readers are currently my favorite thing right now.
* A lot!
John Green, John Green!
