Hey Guys! How was your weekend? Mine was great. I went to a wedding. Again. So for those keeping track it was two weddings in a row.
Also I have two more coming up in the next few months.
And...I'm maid of honor for both!
Craziness.
So right now, I'm trying to refocus my brain around my WIP which is still sitting pretty at around 37,000 words (I'm shooting to write 70,000 to get to the end), and also...I mean to do this all by May 31st.
So that's about 33,000 words I need to write and I have 10 days to write it.
AAAAH!
I think to keep myself going and held accountable (especially since I failed Nanowrimo this year--cough) I'm going to try and blog my progress for the next 10 days as I race toward my deadline.
So here's to 33,000 more words in 10 days or less.
I hope!
*gulp*
Anyone else sitting on some crazy, lofty goals?
10k days Frankie! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on getting my draft finished by the end of May too, but, I definitely have less of a word count to go!
I'm rooting for you!!
Thank you, Ashe!!! I'm rooting for you too! Keep me posted! Here's to both of us typing "The End" on May 31st!
DeleteGood luck Frankie! Yep, I've got a pretty tight deadline that has me needing to do 2000-2500 words everyday until at least the end of next month. Not as tough as what you've got going but it can certainly wear on you after awhile.
ReplyDeleteHmm...speaking of which I should really be writing!
Thank you, Jeff! Wow--you do have a tight deadline! And yes, get back to writing! I'm going back too. Once I organize one more wedding plan.
DeleteI have about 40,000 words that I'd like to write in 9 days. I'm sure it won't happen, but if I could at least get half of that done, I would be a happy camper! I think I am going to blog about my progress as well (to keep motivated!) GREAT IDEA, Frankie!
ReplyDeleteStefanie, OOOOH! You have it even worse than I do! 40,000 in 9 days! YIKES! Yes, please blog your progress and let's keep motivating each other! We can do it!!!
DeleteYou can do eeeeet! 3k everyday, and GO!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christina!!!! WHEEE!
DeleteYou can do it! I believe in you! I can't wait to see the finished piece. Your a huge inspiration to me!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, Heather!!! *hugs* That means a lot!
DeleteWow, I am rooting for you! I did the opposite - I set lower goals for myself so I could achieve them while still catching up on reruns of New Girl. So I think the answer here is I'm a lazy bastard. Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, JEM! LOL. I've been there where all I want to do is watch every single episode ever of Gilmore Girls while I....line edit...or...not.
DeleteLofty goal: Get revisions complete by September 1st to send into agent who wanted R+R. My big issue is the freaking love interest who is too villainous and not enough nice. Sigh. Any suggestions on how to make him not so creepy/abusive? LOL. We need to see why he is attractive besides his good looks and all I've got is "...cause he is." sigh. (Every other revision seems tackle-able.)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on the weddings and the goal. Frankie, you can do it!!!!
Ooooh that's exciting about the R+R! I''ll keep my fingers crossed. And hmmm less creepy/abusive--yikes! Without having read it I'd suggest he saves a cat. Have you ever heard of that book--SAVE THE CAT? It's basically the idea that when a character steps onto the scene, even if they've just done something horrible if you have them do one thing that's very honorable like saving a cat, we'll sympathize with them and be on their side. I'm rooting for you, Rachel! Go! Go! Go!
DeleteI want to have the first 100 pages of my WIP before my editor sends me the line edits on my first book. That means I have 3 weeks and about 50 pages left.
ReplyDelete*gulp*
Good luck and have fun at the weddings!
EEEK! I feel you there, Stephanie. That's a very sensible goal. You can do it!!!!
DeleteI commend you for your word count goal - you can do it! It's the editing and revising part that takes forever once all those words are on the page.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can get some work done during downtime at the weddings (there's ALWAYS downtime, esp if you're in it) if you have a smart phone. Or heck, just a notebook!
Stephsco, oh yes the revising and editing is a ton of work. But actually, I LOVE that part. It's hard, but somehow the idea of molding the words on the page into something pretty is far less intimidating than creating words on a blank page. So I'm down with that part--in fact I'm trying to get there ASAP--in 10 days in fact! I HOPE I have some downtime at these weddings...but I don't think I will.
DeleteYou can do it. My goal is to finish a first draft by July and start revision another novel to have ready to query by next year. Yeah, I think my head might be in the clouds. Good luck! I know you can do it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great goal to finish by July! And start another. I'll be starting another probably in September. Thanks for the vote of confidence and I know YOU can do it too!
DeleteYay writing goals! My plan is to finish by mid-July, and we're at almost exactly the same place - 36K of around 70K planned. I don't think I'll get it done by May 31st, though :)
ReplyDeleteOh nice! Well mid-July is a great goal. I'm only saying May 31st partly because I believe I can--I'm fast when I put my mind to it, and also I need to finish before I go to NY for BEA and have a hundred other things happen.
DeleteI once wrote 70k words in 3 weeks. It was possibly the worst book ever written!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! You can totally do it.
HAHAHA! Well now there's a confidence booster! But thanks!
DeleteFrankie, considering what you accomplished in one weekend, you can so do that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anonymous!
