Like it was THE BEST of all the movies.
First of all--splitting the movie into two parts? HELLZ YES! Seriously why didn't they make every one of the movies come out in 2 parts (besides the fact that the actors were growing and child labor laws and gah!). But soooooo much of the original dialogue from the books--dialogue I loved was in there and that made me ridiculously happy!
So here are my highlights: (BTW there are "spoilers" I guess--I mean you guys know what happens because you read the books right? Well anyway, read on at your own risk if you haven't seen the movie).
1. Bill Weasely!!!!!!!!! OMG--Where have you been all my life? You were adorable and charming and I wish you had been around for the last few movies too because you deserved to be since you were working your job at Gringotts and giving Fleur EEnglish lessons. But so happy to have had you this time, and I was so glad to be at your wedding. Why can't we meet Charlie? Seriousy--if the Cullens get to keep all of their siblings why can't Weaselys represent? Haven't they suffered enough people!?!? We just want some more Bill! And Charlie too!
2. 7 Harrys!!! I laughed so hard at this scene, especially seeing Fleur-Harry in her bra! Hilarious and awesome. I think Fleur-Harry was my favorite--especially when she/he cuddled up against Bill before he rode off on the back of that creature whose name I'm forgetting which just reminds me again that Bill was awesome! Also George's HOLEY joke made it in! SQUEE!
3.Hermione Obliviates Her Parents! We got to be there when she did it! Awesome--emotional! Nuff said. And then when she has to obliviate those death eaters in the coffee shop! My heart! And when she takes Harry to the Forest of Dean...because she went there with her parents....OMG--Hermione girl! You stole the show! Hermione was all kinds of fantastic in this movie. ALL KINDS! So fantastic, that I'm ready to start calling it Hermione Granger and The Deathly Hallows, because lets face it--and even movie Ron agrees--ya'll wouldn't make it 2 minutes out there without Hermione! WIN! Every scene with Hermione=win...which brings me to....
4. Ron got splinched! This probably doesn't say much about me but I LOVE when Ron gets splinched in the book (I'm really not an evil person). I love it because it forces Hermione to let down her guard a bit and really take care of her man like you know she wants to and she DOES! She's sooooo sweet and concerned when it happens and just getting right in there to fix it. Le sigh. So much love for....
5. Ron. They did such a good job with Ron. He was funnier than usual, and more charismatic. AND SQUEEEE! They showed the first morning after in Grimauld place when Hermione slept on the couch and Ron on the floor and they were reaching toward each other like they held hands all night!!!! These little details just killed me! And when Ron came back....
6. The Silver Doe! You guys, THIS is my favorite of favorites! My most favorite favorite favorite Harry Potter chapter of all time--of all the books! I LOVE this chapter so hard it hurts. And it was awesome! And Volde-Harry and Volde-Hermione killed it--though I was not expecting nekkid making out. But the way they appeared all ghostly white and beautiful...it was just how I imagined it! And then Ron destroyed the horcrux and it was awesome!
7. Dobby! Every scene with Dobby. Nuff said. You KNOW what I'm talking about.
8. Hermione's Torture! AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Emma Watson killed that scene! My only complaint here though is A) Ron was not freaking out screaming HERMIONE HERMIONE in the basement like he does in the book which I just love! And B) there's kind of a weird --Oh hey Luna, what's up--moment that slowed down the tension for me in that scene. But whatever, still freaking awesome.
9. Runcorn-Harry When Harry sneaks into the Ministry of Magic--LOL! From the toilet flushing in, to the looks on his face--even though this was not actually Harry acting--err Dan Radcliffe--whatever I loved him. And Cattermole-Ron! Hilarious--especially he starts worrying about his wife! Minor complaint--they didn't really rescue any "mudbloods" just got Mary Cattermole out. I wanted more people saved, but the way they showed people being taken away...soooooo chilling.
10. Godric's Hallow I loved their visit there! And the Bathilda scene was shot SO well, I'd kind of crawled out of my seat and was half on the floor--because when Nagini strikes--she STRIKES!
Ok, I'm probably forgetting 100 things because I got like 2 hours of sleep last night. But it was AMAZING! And I'm going to see it as many times as I can! :-) EEEEEH! So happy they got it right this time!
Oh wait I just remembered what scene was MADE of AWESOME! There are so many in 2 and half hours, its easy to forget.
The Three Brothers! This was some SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY cool animation and totally unexpected. I could just watch that piece over and over again! It was just...I can't describe it--but that was one of my favorite features in the film--despite my momentary memory lapse.
Ok! Excitement again! (Can you tell I'm sleep deprived?) And end post!

Yeah, um, I'm still sort of blinking in the morning light because of sleep-deprivation, but ZOMG it was amazing! Everything you pointed out were basically my favorite parts as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, the animation portion with Hermione reading the tale was awesome. And it's funny, because even though everyone was really considerate during the movie, there was always a bit of a whisper hum going around. Not during that part, though. It was like we were all being very quiet during story-time.
This was by FAR my favorite movie adaption. Can't wait for part two!
I'm still really sleepy with 5 hours of sleep but the movie was awesome!!! I loved the small details with some comic relief and can't wait for part 2!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the Three Brothers scene, omg! It was phenomenal. And dude, I so agree with you on the Hermione and the Deathly Hallows things. She rocked this movie so hard. :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh Frankie this sounds SO GOOD! I'm so jealous you got to see it last night...I have to wait until next Friday. D: Speaking of HP, in celebration of our favorite magical people I'm hosting a Mad Lib Contest if you're interested. :)

SO worth the 3.5 hours of sleep it left me with. Squeeeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteI almost want to see this now. Almost... I'm still about four movies behind. :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure those were all of my favorite parts! I was so blown away by how beautifully made this film was, and I was SOOOOOO excited when Bill showed up. I was like NO FREAKIN WAY because they left him out all this time!! Man, FREAKING good movie!
ReplyDeleteThe movie was SO GOOD!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome adaptation of the book.
Amazing. that is all.
I really loved the trio in this one. The emotion was just amazing between them.
All the scenes were awesome.
The people in our theater literally groaned when the credits came because they wanted more!
Can't wait for part 2, though I'm sad its ending :(
You said it all!!! Bill! Hermione! Three Brothers tale! 7Harrys! Ministry of Magic (were not those three actors awesome? I believed they were Harry, Hermione and Ron, totally). I NEED to go see it again soon.
ReplyDeleteI went on Thursday, too. Your highlights are perfect, Frankie! It was sooooooooo awesome!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteShayda, it was like that in our theater too--sooooo quiet! It was mesmorizing! I have brand new respect for J.K now for creating that tale, it just took her awesome to a whole new level. Seriously I worship her!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments guys! Im so glad you all got to see it too and loved it as much as I did!
Has anyone gone for a second viewing yet? I'm itching to go!
I was so disappointed I couldn't go to the midnight showing--but now I'm even more disappointed! It's okay--I'm going to make certain I go to the midnight showing of the second half. Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely hit all of my favorite parts! The whole theater was cracking up during the 7 Harrys scene.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on Hermione. She totally stole the show this time around. The scene where she had to obliviate her parents had me tearing up, the way she disappeared from every photograph. Ugh, so heartbreaking!
I do so love Ron, though. The camping scenes were all spot on and I loved how they really stayed true to the book this time around. I don't think a single important scene was left out.
It comes out this week here and I am most definitely seeing it with my friends and brother and sister! I'm so glad you said they had lots of dialogue from the book and that they got it right this time -squee- I'm so excited ^_^
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I love your whole blog.
ReplyDeleteBut I haven't seen it yet. DX I live in the middle of nowhere and it's not in theaters. But I've read the books.
Just Another Sarah--Yes you should if you can!
ReplyDeleteMelissa--YES, YES and YES!
Sandy--Ooh good, let me know what you think!
Toria--AW! Thanks! *HUGS* I really hope you get to see it soon! Let me know what you think when you do:-)
I can tell you're a wee bit excited about this movie. I can hardly wait to go see it myself!
ReplyDeleteI saw it! And it was as you say AWESOME. It was dark, sad, funny, EPIC. Loved it ^_^. So intense and I agree Bill should have been in the movies long ago I loved him.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I wished for was the Lupin scene in Grimmauld place but I can live without it because this movie was fantastic.
