Arcadia University’s Writers Return to Campus Presents Frankie Diane Mallis, Oct. 15

Glenside, Pa.—Friday, Sept. 9, 2010—Arcadia University’s Writers Return to Campus presents Frankie Diane Mallis ’09M, a Philadelphia-based author, on Friday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle. Arcadia University is located at 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, Pa. The event is free and open to the public.

As a graduate student in the master’s in English program at Arcadia, Mallis wrote her first novel, Stolen, which landed her a literary agent within a year after graduation. Her writing genre is fantasy for young adults.

Mallis will speak on “Breaking Into the Biz: Everything I Wish I Had Known About Publishing.” She will discuss the process of getting into the publishing industry, prepping your manuscript, the importance of networking, branding, attending conferences, querying, pitches and what happens once you land an agent. Her first novel manuscript is currently on submissions with editors.

She is currently working on her second novel, as well as teaching. Mallis writes frequently on her blog, Frankie Writes, as well as with her critique group, composed of fellow Arcadia alumni, The First Novels Club.

  1. I'll try my best. The monsters have to be put back in the cage and a key master must tend to the door. Sounds great!

  2. Dude, I would TOTALLY come if:

    A. I lived in Philly.
    B. This workshop was in Florida.

Since neither of those statements are true, I'll just stay home and pout.

  3. Heather, I'm pouting too! Why can't you teleport here?

  8. That's wonderful, Frankie. The description makes you sound so professional. I'm sure your talk will be not only educational but entertaining.

But I'm confused about the link (marked THIS!) at the end of your post. When I clicked on it, I got sent to my blogger dashboard. I feel like a kid in school being sent to the corner.

  9. Joanne, hahaha yeah I do sound so professional when they talk about me like that--then I go and leave the wrong link and realize I'm not so professional.

BTW I fixed the link--it was supposed to take you to the Philly Lit Night post--doh!

  15. I'm a student at Arcadia and my writing teacher just told us about this talk- I am most definitely coming. This is the most exciting Friday night Arcadia's had in a long time. (Oh, and by the way, Arcadia makes killer cookies. If they have some, definitely try one!)

I'm afraid Mike has me on reserve for that weekend, but I'll try astral projecting!
