I'm Giving A Presentation On...

So perhaps the biggest step I've gotten to take in my quest to become a professional writer (after like writing a book and starting a blog (or two) and signing with Agent Laura) was being asked by Arcadia University to be featured in their Writers Return To Campus series.

And guess what?

I'm Ms. Fall!

Ok, so they don't actually call you Ms....or let you wear a sparkly tiara or a ribbon for the season you're featured...but you do get to see your picture on a lot of flyers...

And you get to give a presentation!
:-0

Yeah, I'm presenting that night after running a writers workshop with 10 students.

So here's the thing, they want me to give them a title for my talk so they can start advertising it...

One problem.

What do I talk about???

You guys know me and you know what I'm good at discussing (or not so good at discussing). If you were coming to my talk (which BTW Philly writers/bloggers it's October 15th and FREE) what would you want me to talk about? What topics would be the most helpful for you to listen to (assuming I have any idea what I'm talking about).

All advice is mucho appreciated as are fun title's for my talk!

  1. How exciting! Except for, you know, having to pull a title out of thin air before you've even had a chance to think about the presentation it's supposed to represent.

Sorry, I'm not much help, am I? Is there a theme for the overall conference you can pull from?

  2. WOW! How exciting! Where is this? Here are a couple of topic ideas and if they are boring --I'm sorry.
    1. On querying-how to, the best way, etiquette.
    2. Methods on writing a novel-panster, outline, loose outline. How they fit different personalities.
I don't have titles and since my mind is mush--my ideas are flowing too freely.
    Have a great day!

  3. I still like "The Talk" as a title...think of how many people would come because they think it's on sex! just kidding...they'll come when they find out it's you speaking! I like hearing your methods on planning out what you're going to write. Like your post yesterday. That was helpful to me. Also, you're good at the the whole twist thing-

  4. Calling yourself Ms. Fall makes me think there's going to be a calendar produced that would go well in construction trailers. Is there? #justcurious

    How about:
Agents are People and Need Love Too
    YA is Still Hot, Bitchez
Sparkly Vampires are Out, Sparkly Knights are IN!
Belly Dancing Won't Get You An Agent, But Let's Face It, It Can't Hurt

    Any of those work?

  5. If you speak from the heart about your experiences, I think you'll win over any audience!

    Break a leg!

  6. I agree with Christine and Kelly. You have real strengths in organizational strategies. And then, there's always the psychology of Frankie! :-)

  8. Title? I like Simon's suggestions. But also Shannon's inadvertent one (The Psychology of Frankie).

Or you could just call it: How I Wrote My Novel, Found an Agent and Belly-Danced My Way through Life.

Christine's topics are a great start. Talk about writing groups, too. And revising. Definitely revising. Just do what you do best, Frankie. Enthuse. Bubble over.

Free, did you say? I am definitely coming to this talk. Yay, Frankie!
