Agent Signing Contest--Win Signed Hunger Games Series!

OK! So in case you missed it...last week I signed with my dream agent, Laura Rennert at Andrea Brown Literary Agency, Inc.

So it's time for an EPIC CONTEST!

In honor of my signing I am giving away (a mostly signed) The Hunger Games Trilogy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah baby! You can win:

The Hunger Games--SIGNED by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire--SIGNED by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay--(unsigned) Preordered

This year Suzanne Collins had only one book signing (which I was lucky enough to attend and recap HERE) so signed books by her are pretty rare and hard to come by--but I have two of them for you and will preorder Mockingjay (unsigned) to complete your entire set!

Yay!!! Now here's how you win--those of you who have been hanging out with the cool people for a while know what's coming, but for anyone new (Hi new cool people!!! *waves* Welcome!!!) I'm going to break things down.

All you have to do is head over to the sidebar where the cool people are hanging out and click the follow button (and/OR follow me through Facebook), then leave a comment below and tell me, if you were in The Hunger Games, during the initial scoring section---where all the tributes have to show their special skill for the arena, what would you do? Or what would you wish you could do? And that's it!

Want more votes? Bring a friend over to my blog and make sure they tell me you sent them and I'll give you an extra vote! For every friend you send, your name gets entered again. AND if your referral makes a referral than you get more chances from that too because I grandfather in the votes (its a labor of love). So please get creative and tweet, blog, facebook, beg, bribe...ummm just figure out a way to get more friends over here so you have more chances to win, ok? :-)

And here is the demonstration in case what I just said makes no sense.

Ok so Regina George reads my blog. "It's where I go to laugh and get away from all the fugliness that are the people who end up in my Burn Book." And she's reading and she sees I'm giving away The Hunger Games (mostly signed) Trilogy and immediately decides to enter and comments below saying, "I would totally score a 12 from the judges of The Hunger Games by simply strutting around in my teeniest bikini ever! They'd be mesmerized, I'd have to score a perfect. And in the arena, I'd take down my enemies the same way. You what they say--beauty killed the beast--right? Plus I can throw a mean punch if I have to."

And so Regina George is awarded 1 point in my contest!

But 1 point is not enough for Regina George! No! She has to win. She's a life ruiner and she wants to make sure that she--not you--wins those books. And so she enlists the help of Gretchen Weiners.

Regina: Gretchen, you have to follow Frankie's blog. She just signed with this awesome agent and she's giving away these books that  are fabulous. So go enter and say I sent you!

Gretchen: Oh wow that sounds so fetch!!

Regina: Gretchen! Stop trying to make fetch happen. It's not going to happen.

Gretchen: What are you talking about, Regina? I just heard someone say it in the mall the other day and the way they said it, I just totally know that they heard it from me. So I'm pretty sure it can happen, which is--

Regina: OMG, Gretchen! Just...wait a second....I have call waiting. *clicks over* Hello

Gretchen: Regina?

Regina: Karen? OMG, I'm on the phone with Gretchen and she is SO annoying. I'm trying to get her to enter this contest for signed books and I would have told you to enter, but sweetie, you can't read and anyway she just keeps saying fetch like she has a syndrome or something and---

Gretchen: REGINA! It's still Gretchen.

Regina: I knew that. Now are you entering or not?

Gretchen: Fine, I'm in, but only because I actually like The Hunger Games and Frankie's blog, not because you told me to. And--

Regina: Just make sure you tell I sent you. Ok love you, bye!

And so 2 points are awarded to Regina and 1 to Gretchen.

But then Gretchen snaps. "Why should Peeta get all the glory from fans of The Hunger Games while everyone else just ignores Gale? What's so great about Peeta? Hmmm? Gale is just as cute as Peeta! Gale is just as smart as Peeta. People totally like Gale just as much as they like Peeta. And when did it become okay for one person to be the star of the story, huh? Because that's not what love triangles are supposed to be about! We should just totally be Team Gale!"

And so Gretchen goes to Cady for help.

Gretchen: If you only knew how mean she really is! I mean I want to read The Hunger Games too. And I like Frankie's blog. But I think I deserve to win the books signed by Suzanne Collins. You know?

Cady: What's Frankie's Blog?

Gretchen: Oh you're like a martian, you don't know anything. Here sign online and read it.

Cady: Oh, this is really cool! And oh. I HEARD of The Hunger Games! I'm totallly going to follow Frankie!

Gretchen: Really? You will? And you'll say I sent you, right? Not Regina? Because we have to stick together against her and I need the points way more than she does.

Frankie: Ummm, Gretchen, I grandfather ALL the points in so Regina still benefits from Cady signing up.

Gretchen: Irregardless, I still get more points and then may the odds be ever in my favor!

Cady: And mine too!

And so Regina now has 3 points, Gretchen has 2 and Cady has 1.

Got it?

Ok, just to entice you a little more, let me know if you're an old follower (like you followed my blog before this contest) and I will double all of your points.

And if you post about this on your blog, like a whole post just for this...I will multiply all of your points times 5! So if you bring a lot of people over...your points can be through the roof. Just make sure you tell everyone to say you sent them!

So contest ends Friday, May 21 at 11:59 PM.

Let the games begin!

  1. I missed your announcement last week and am just popping in to say congratulations! That is wonderful!!!

  2. Awesome contest, Frankie!

I definitely love Katniss' skill of arrow shooting... totally kewl. It would be really funny if I could play an instrument that makes people fall asleep, though. I'd win in two minutes!

    Off to tweet!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Congratulations!

I think I would like some sort of camo skill, combined with Katniss' arrow skills - that would make a deadly combo.

Great contest! I was an old follower too ;)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yeah, so I have no clue what my skill would be (I haven't read the Hunger Games yet, so I'm not sure how super power I can go here...). That being said, maybe have the ability to control everyone's mind?

off to tweet this. Congrats again!

  5. First off LMAO- this is the coolest contest idea I have seen in awhile. And second, congrats for signing with Laura Rennert- how freakin' cool is that?????!!!!

Okay, now for the contest! If I were in The Hunger Games, during the initial scoring section, my special skill would be --drum roll please--rolling my stomach! Okay, so I would have to lose a few pounds first so that I would be willing to show my stomach, but after that little feat is done- I would wow the judges with my mystical stomach roll. I think I would get a 12 for that :)

  6. Congrats on the agent that is so exciting. Great series to pick as the contest.

  7. Mean Girls, FTW.

I'm pretty good with knives in real life. I'd use that to my advantage in The Hunger Games.

  8. Wow! I am going to declare myself out for this contest because I hearts ya and don't want to burst the bank by demanding you send all that beautiful swag across the atlantic.

Congrats though! I too missed the news last week but I guessed from following your twitter feed.

Please accept many more people as a celebratory gift as I tweet about this *hugs* *runs off to twitter*

  9. This is a freaking awesome contest! Anyways I'd totally go for Peeta's skill of camouflage since if you aren't as strong as the others mind games might help you more. I think in games like this strategic thinking always plays a bigger role and thinking smart can help you win:)

  10. I am so in! I am an old follower! And I intend to blog about this contest on Friday! I haven't read the Hunger Games yet because I am lame, but I've been wanting to!

    ReplyDelete
  11. If I had a skill though, it would be animal communication-- if that exists in Hunger Games land. (just for the record. sorry for posting twice!)

  12. Woahs. Wu-oahs. If ever a deal with the Devil were tempting, winning this contest would surely push me over the edge.
Truth: Reading The Hunger Games has spurred me to learn archery. No lie. Now I just need to find someone who can teach me.
My special skill: I practice Tae Kwon Do and I have a mean straight leg axe kick. Let's do this, Cato. Also: I watched a lot of McGyver episodes as a kid, I'm pretty sure I could make a weapon out of tree bark and chewing gum.

  13. Thanks for the awesome contest & congrats!

If I was in the Hunger Games during the initial scoring section, I would want to be able to paralyze people using pressure points (Kind of like Tylee from Avatar: The last airbender).

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am loving this contest. Okay, so I'm an old follower, but I also haven't read the series (It's one that I definitely want to read, it's been on my list for when I next go to the library.) So, I'm not sure how super-power to go here. Could I win them over with my excellent powers of public speech and persuasion? I bet I could bore them to tears. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. DforDarla sent me. Congrats & thanks for the contest.

I would wish that I could make weapons out of anything during the initial scoring section.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh, awesome contest!

I think I'd personally be toast in the ring, so I would probably show the judges how good I am at, uhh... standing there. However, in a perfect world I'd go all Jackie Chan on them with my awesome kung fu skills. That would be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Congrats!!!

If I was in the Hunger Games, I would wish that I could have awesome archery skills like Katniss.

  18. So excited for you!! Hmm. Let's see... I guess I would like to be nimble, seems like that would help ;o)

Okay I have to say it again. CONGRATS FRANKIE!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Damnit! I haven't read that book but I have seen that movie (sad I know). Not sure if I can enter since I don't know the scene you're talking about in the book, but I am a follower and think you're awesome so put me down for 1 if that counts.

    Go Frankie!

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is so awesome. You should definitely pick me. (That first sentence was for you. The second was for random.org, or whatever program you use to pick winners, because I know no amount of vegan treats will influence your decision. On an unrelated note, what's your address?)

I don't really have any special skillz. So I would probably just have a nap during that section. At least that way I'd be well-rested, and I'd probably get a 0, but then I'd fake everyone out into thinking I wasn't a threat. Totally genius.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm going to say have a black belt in Karate, because my little sister is currently a blue belt and she has some hardcore moves!

I am a new follower and I tweeted the contest. Marquita referred me.

  22. This is an AMAZING contest! Oh. My. Werd.

Special skill..... invisibility - not like, real invisibility, but whenever I go out places I have a tendency to not be noticed. I once set off the metal detector and the guy just sort of waved me through as though he couldn't see me. (granted he was too busy laughing at my sister, so that might have had something to do with it. But invisibility would totally come in handy!

And I am an old follower and I will put this up on my sidebar!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OMG! I know my odds are slim to none, especially since I don't twitter, but I am SO going to try for it!! What an amazing giveaway Frankie! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I NEVER win anything! Not even last week when there was "A spreading the awesome" event all over the blogosphere with like a million contests for free books. BUT, these are signed copies we're talking about, and it's your celebration post, so please enter me into the contest.
I'm sure that if my name were put in the lottery to "participate" of the Hunger Games, my name would come out FOR SURE! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay, I'm sure that example would be much funnier if I a) watched TV, b) watched that show, and c) I don't have a c. Still, I've heard such good things about The Hunger Games that I totes have to enter this. Cuz, y'know, I can't buy YA stuff at the bookstore. I might get a rep.

My special skill for the arena would be drinking a shocking amount of vodka for my body size and still remaining upright. That and haiku on demand. You could kill someone with haiku. The word sounds spiky, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congrats on getting an agent!
I adore the Hunger Games books. I doubt my extreme nerdiness would serve me well in the Hunger Games, but maybe I'd be like Beetee and Wiress in Catching Fire and use my smarts to figure out the system and then rig explosives and such.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would show them how I could turn almost any thing into a weapon and how awesome my reflexes are. = ]
    Thanks for the contest!

  29. I love the Hunger Games series - can't wait for Mockingjay!

I don't have many skills that would be extremely helpful in the Games. I'd like to be able to use a bow & arrow, but I've never tried one :)

  32. Whoohoo! I love me the hunger games.

I honestly don't have any real life skills that would help me survive. If I could though I would have super awesome ninja skills, like breaking a 2X4 in half with my head.

  34. Kirthi sent me over! New follower here.

I'd simply get a 12 in hiding - because being in that setting would terrify me and I'd find SOMEWHERE to hide. And then I'd just hide until it was over.. somehow. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congrats on signing with your dream agent! I'm a huge fan of the Hunger Games books. Unfortunately, I don't really have any skills that would be very beneficial if I were thrown into that environment. I used to be pretty good at archery when I was a kid, so maybe with some practice. I'd probably study ways to hide and hope that everyone else got killed off somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Congratulations!
I found your blog through "See Heather Write" so Heather sent me.

My skill would probably be camo, but I don't think it would be good enough to keep me alive for more than a few days.

  43. Congratulations on getting signed! I got to meet Andrea Brown a few weeks ago when she came to speak to my writers' group and she was wonderful.

I'd love to enter your contest. I'm an old follower. I would be hopeless in the arena but I might be able to confuse and entertain my opponents with a choreographed Sharks vs. Jets style dance/fight.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Frankie, you're amazing, wonderful, talented, funny, beautiful, kooky, yummy, a genius writer and not to mention vegan! (Which nearly makes us twins, right? *gobbles tofu*). Anyway, point being - I love you. So just give up the act and let me win the prize, okay??? No? :( Sigh.

What I would do for the scoring section.... uh.... hmm.... um.... I could stand there and show off my ass-kissing abilities? Although I'm not sure that will do me much good in the arena as it's certainly not helping here. I'd be skill-less among a group of teens with one mission: Kill. I guess I'd just try throwing knives, which I'm so talented at that it would end up inserted in my own jugular. But hey, at least I killed one tribute! A performance like that should at least earn me an 11.

AWESOME contest! I love, love, love this series!

    Thanks!

  45. Congratulations!

If I were in the Hunger Games and had unlimited ability, I would show off my skill by killing all the other tributes at once.

'Course, now that all the other tributes are gone, new ones will replace them and they'll be gunning for me. It's the price to pay for notoriety. :P

  47. Singed copies of The Hunger Games. You suckerpunched me you know. I'm in! I'll be squeezing in a post for you with my scheduled ones. But I'm an old follower! :) Yay for double points!

I hope you are still doing the biggest happy dance. Well, second biggest. A publishing deal is bigger... but only slightly.

(Skill? I think I may be going with Rue on this one. Hiding and climbing in trees seems like my only chance).

  48. Grrrrrrrrrrrreat contest!

I would probably cry and cry and cry because I'm a big crybaby and I would terrified. I would hope that they might take pity and tell me I could go home.

  49. This is a great contest! I'm also very interested now in following your blog- congrats on signing!

If I were to be chosen for the HG, I would use my ballet skills to turn circles around the Careers.

    Jessica from Wanderings brought me!

  50. I've heard a lot about these books. They sound like a great read! Okay, so what would I do, well a little known fact in the writer world is that I can really thrown down. As in, 3rd degree black belt throw down. So I'd clean house ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. awesome contest!!!!

I would love to to be able to shoot arrows like Katniss.

    ReplyDelete
  52. In the initial scoring section, my skill is probably playing the piano improvising. Don't know how that help? But i wish i could be like Katniss with the bow and arrow? That's what every hunger games contestant needs! :D

  53. I wish I could control everyone's emotions. That would be soo cool!:)

And thank you for this amazing contest ! I've been a fan of this series for a while now, and I cannot wait for the third book!

If I was being scored, I would probably ...Actually, I have no idea what I would do. I can sing and dance, so maybe I'll like make a musical of fighting really well in the arena. Yeah, that's probably what I would do. Hunger Games the Musical ! Let's do it!

Oh yeah, congrats on the agent ! :D

  57. Amazing contest!

The Lost Entwife (Lydia) sent me to join in the fun!

So, here's the thing. I am strong. I work out, but not like a crazy amazon woman. My husband loves having me around, because he knows I can help him lift a 200 pound window into place without having to call one of his college buddies. The other thing about me? I'm a great actress. So, I would pretend to be all girly, but when they least expect it, the judges would see my superhuman strength!

I'm tweeting this great contest! Thanks!

  59. As someone mentioned above, Katniss inspired me to learn archery. I've also been led (by another literary character) to learn how to throw knives. If I was skilled enough at either of these, I would show either of these as my skill. However, as things stand, I'm a dancer. I'm flexible, I'm nimble, and I have a lot of lower body strength. As River from "Serenity" proved, dancing can be a dangerous style of fighting. So that would be my skill.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I haven't read the series so I don't know about the skills, but I think a weapon skill would be beneficial...maybe swords or knives.

  62. P.S Jordan Finch - you mentioning River and dancing as a fighting skill? You are awesome for mentioning that one, and I give serious props to you.

Similarly, I also like how Yelena uses her gymnastic skills to her advantage in Poison Study. :)

  67. omg love Hunger Games!

for special talent: would want Po (from Graceling) like ability to sense the intentions of those around me-- as skill particularly useful for hand to hand combat! (having Katsa's Grace would just be unfair... survival? totally ruins the underdog aspect of Katniss's victory.) Would want to be from district 11, where the agriculture is. yay for tree climbing!

If I had to show my special skill, it would definitely be the bow & arrow, which coincidentally is Katniss' skill, because I'm a Sagittarius and our sign is the arrow. Yeah for Dec born babies :)

I love Katniss' ability to shoot arrows, but I'd also want to be really fast/sly runner! (so i could run away from all the people trying to murder me ;) )

I have actually always harbored this secret desire to take archery lessons :P so I would definitely take Katniss' path on that one.

  84. I agree with a lot of the people here - to learn archery would be awesome. The hubby and I have talked about it a few times - maybe this summer!

  85. I wish I could do archery like Katniss. I think that skill is badass, and the most useful during the Hunger Games.

I would probably do the camouflaging skill level... I'm not as good at decorating as Peeta, but it would probably be the only thing I'd be remotely good at. I'm definitely no athlete!

    Thanks for hosting this!

  92. Again, congrats on getting your dream agent! That's one of the best presents life can give you :D

And as for being in the arena... yikes. I'd want to be amazingly intelligent so I could beat out all the other competitors. Like, I'd want to be able to analyze the situation and zero in on the opponent's weaknesses... it's great if you're physically strong but you don't stand a chance if you don't think on your feet in the games!

I'm an old follower ;) I'm off to link this on my sidebar!

  93. Please enter me in this giveaway!

  101. Congrats on the agent signing!!!! :D

    This contest rules! :D
If I were in the Hunger Games, I'd do something super dramatic and crazy in a deadly way...so the judges would think I'd be that crazy in the games and give me a perfect score! To do that I'd probably knock off the head of that dummy they had for training with something really unexpected. Then they'd be all oooh she's gonna kill them and make them suffer which is good for viewers in the Capital of course :)
Thanks for the contest and congrats once again! :D
