Zombie Dreams

So last night I totally had my first official zombie dream. I know, some of you are probably thinking, what's wrong with you? Why haven't you dreamed about zombies before? While more likely the majority of you are going, ummmm WHY would you dream about zombies in the first place?

To which I must answer, I have no clue.

I mean, I am kind of reading Carrie Ryan's The Forest of Hands and Teeth and there was this post by The Bloggess which may have inspired me. But for the record, I am NOT a zombie person. At all. So much so in fact that even in my dream, I had a moment of total clarity while I hid in my car and watched zombies running back and forth on the street biting people and I thought, ummmm, Frankie? You know you're not a zombie person right?

And I answered myself, right.

You know this might all be Carrie Ryan's fault, right?

And I agreed with myself, right.

But you've also read Shiver three times and you never dreamed about werewolves before, right? And I thought, right! So then WHY ON EARTH are you dreaming about zombies. You are NOT a zombie girl.

At which point a man was pinned to the ground right outside my car and was bitten for the 5th time. Mind you, despite the fact that I was totally out of my element in a zombie dream, my authorly self was still thriving and so this meant my dream included world building. Yeah! And hard core world building rules. And in the land of Frankie and zombies, apparently you can be bitten by a zombie and not turn into one, UNTIL you've been bitten 5 times. So when that 5th bite appeared on that man, I high tailed it out there and drove so far...I drove into another dream.

So I think I can safely say my zombie days, or nights...dreams...whatever, are over. Which is good. Because veganism and zombiesm do not mix. At all. Unless I can be a vegetarian zombie.

Then I might be ok.  But probably not.

  1. Haha! Zombies have always freaked me out. My best friend and I always used to talk about how the worst kind of apocalypse would be a zombie one. If a vampire kills you, it's only two little puncture wounds and you'll probably faint during it. Not bad. (Unless it's "Vampire Dairies" vampires, but they don't count...) A werewolf will go for the jugular, so you'll be gone pretty soon. But zombies? They'll just gnaw on your arm or leg or something. Umm...ouch!

  2. Ha! Zombies and veganism. That is too funny. I've never had a zombie dream either -- and I've read Ryan's books. Aren't they fab?

  3. lol

I had a zombie dream a couple of weeks ago. It was weird. I'm not a vegan or anything, I just have a very limited exposure to them. I've never seen a zombie movie or read a book with zombies in it. Even when we were supposed to watch all the night of the living dead, and others, movies for policy debate, I never did.

At least you didn't become a zombie in the dream. That would be even weirder.

  4. If I tried being vegan for a couple weeks, I'd likely turn into a zombie with an unholy hunger for meat. In my case, veganism would produce zombieism. Weird.

  5. I wrote about zombies today too!!! Only my post was about a book not a dream. I'm picking up Forest of Hands and Teeth next, though. Maybe that'll bring on the dreams... which must be better than last week's laundry dreams.

  6. Haha oh well, I suppose there is a first for everything, even zombie dreams. :P I've never had a dream about zombies but I HAVE dreamed about sparkly vampires. XD I have also dreamed about tiny skeleton men chasing after me, and I am definitely NOT a skeleton man person, if that makes you feel better haha.

  7. This is funny because in like the last 6 weeks I've had two zombie dreams! One was very "forest of hands and teeth" zombies and the other was more zombieland zombies. That one was really weird that if I could remember better might actually make a good book!

  8. Ha! I dream about the books I'm reading all the time. But never the ones I expect. When I read Ender's Game I had weird dreams about being in Battle School. And when I read Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay I had weird comic book dreams, and even started mumbling about it while I was sleeping :)

  9. I just finished the Forrest of Hands and Teeth and (honestly) it took me a while to figure out they were zombies...i'm so used to everything being vampires lately. I'm dumb, I know. Anyway- I can honestly say I've never dreamed about zombies or vampires or werewolves...my mind doesn't paranormal like that when sleeping...maybe I'm weird?

  10. I'm like Kelly, I don’t dream about paranormal stuff in my dreams.

  11. I've dreamt about zombies many times myself. I have gotten some great scenes to write out of them as well.
They are not usually paired with writing or movies though. Lovecraft has been the only one to bleed from the pages into my dreams.
