You Asked + I Answered= You Guys Are Crazy (but so am I) Part 1

So it all started when Marybeth gave the Gnome award to Shannon and Shannon let everyone ask her questions to answer in celebration of her award. Because the award had no rules, this was different, and also supposed to be the end of the story. But...well I guess I got a little excited...ok...evil...and Shannon thought a great way to get back at me tell me how awesome I am was to pass the award onto me + invite you all to ask me questions.

The question asking started out slow, but at some point it really picked up (I believe there was a twitter campaign led by a certain person ahem...) and now I have all of the really random, funny, insightful and tough questions to answer from you guys and because there are a TON of questions I had to break this up into 3 posts-OMG! Are you sure you all want to know so much about me? Well too late now.

So here's part one....get ready!!!

First up Mireyah Wolfe hit me with a taste of my own medicine and asked me the string of Harry Potter questions that I asked Shannon....

Let's Play a Game of Frankie's Favorites! Harry Potter Edition! Yay *throws confetti* Ready?

(Shannon I am SOOOOO sorry)

Favorite Book? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by a landslide! LOVE it!!!

Favorite Chapter? Deathly Hallows Chapter 19: The Silver Doe, sometimes I just open up to this chapter and read it because I love it so much-I mean the sheer emotion of that scene of Harry being so lost both physically, but also emotionally and spiritually and then the doe shows up and it's so beautiful and breathtaking especially in the snow covered forest and then RON comes back and....le sigh....love!

Favorite Scene? Right from my favorite chapter, Harry and Ron in the forest battling the horcrux locket and finally hugging (because they never hugged before that point FYI--apparently British boys don't hug unless it's life or death--so that moment says a lot and seals their bond)

Favorite Muggle? Aunt Petunia...when she stayed back a moment just before leaving Harry forever clutching her purse---you KNEW she had a hundred things to say and was feeling something, but she was just too stuck in her own psyche to do anything about it, but you know she truly did love her sister and Harry but couldn't rise above her own shortcomings. I loved how she went from a cartoonish character to one full of depth and layers. JK is awesome like that.

Favorite Teacher? McGonagall-Scottish, bad ass, but with a heart of gold! She just as easily admonishes Harry, calls him an idiot and sends him to detention as she gives him a cookie, and a brand new broomstick. I love her!!!

Favorite Class? Transfiguration--I want to learn how to transfigure things!

Favorite Gryffindor? Ron! In case you don't know, I have a total love affair with Ron Weasely going on.

Favorite Hufflepuff? Awww Cedric, so noble...so dead...so pre-RPatz...

Favorite Ravenclaw? Everybody keeps answering Cho Chang but ummmm hello! Luna Lovegood!! She's awesome!

Favorite Slytherin? R.A.B. That's right Mr. Regulus Black, who turned on Voldey and betrayed him, entering the fight to destroy Horcruxes before even Dumbledore knew for sure there was one.

Favorite Defense Against the Dark Arts Prof? My answer is a little unorthodox, but....Harry Potter---I'd totally say he was a DADA Prof by leading Dumbledore's Army. He was such a good teacher, he turned Neville into a bad ass. But if you take issue with my choice of favorite based on a technicality, then I LOVE Lupin!

Favorite Quidditch Match? The last match in Prisoner of Azkaban. After totally losing and having his broom destroyed and being tormented they win the game and the Quidditch Cup and Wood was never soooo happy and it was awesome!!!!

Favorite Quidditch Player? Ok...not actually a Quidditch player, but a very important part of the Quidditch match--Lee Jordan--he did the commentary and play by play which was hilarious, especially whenever he'd go on off on how much he loves Angelina and forget to talk about the game.

Favorite Wand Ingredient? I'd totally want a phoenix feather in mine!

Favorite Wizard Band? The Wierd Sisters....classic!

Favorite Library Book? Moste Potente Potions--the book Hermione borrows from the restricted section in Chamber of Secrets to make the Polyjuice Potion after she flatters Lockhart into writing her a permission note for the librarian---BOOYAH!

Favorite Text Book?  Hogwarts a History--I wouldn't feel comfortable going on a death mission to kill Voldemort without it either, Hermione.

Favorite Hogsmeade Store? Dervish and Banges....I just like the name.

Favorite Diagon Alley Shop? Olivanders! I want a wand!!!

Favorite Weasely Twin? FREEEEEEED!!!! He was funnier, and meaner and....I can't talk about it anymore because it still makes me sad.

Favorite Fight? The Big Bruhahaha at the end of the Quidditch match in book 5 that resulted in Harry, Fred and George being expelled from Quidditch for forever by Umbridge after Draco managed to insult everything and everyone related to Harry and the Weaselys.

Favorite Couple? Ron and Hermione!!!!!! For years I suspected they had a secret relationship going on and secretly kissed back in book 5 before Harry got to the Order of the Phoenix  #ItWouldHaveHappenedInTheRealWorld but whatever, they got married-I am happy!

Favorite Scene in a Graveyard? The one where Harry finally visits his parents grave---he wanted to for so long and then later he has a moment with Hermione when she just walks by and brushes her hand over the top of his head---it kills me! So good!

Favorite Vilain? Grindewald...he was interesting and mentioned in book 1 but then became actually important in book 7 and had an interesting back story, but was actually redeemed a little in the end.

Favorite Trewlany Prophecy? Ok I'm doing this from memory so sorry if I'm wrong, but when she tells Lavender Brown that that thing which you've been dreading will happen on October 5 and it was total bullshit except that it wasn't because then her dog or rabbit or something got run over by a car on that day or she heard about it on that day or whatever....I would have been ALL over Trewlany's class if I went to Hogwarts.

Favorite Ron Line? Are...you...mental?

Favorite Dumbledorism? "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." Me and this line are DEEP--I turned down a masters at Columbia because of this line, I chose to come home and start working on my book instead--true story.

Favorite Beast? I'm going to say Hippogriff

Favorite Movie? Order of the Phoenix--I don't know why, but it got the emotion perfect! And the scene at the end when Harry is possessed by Voldemort but then has all of the flashes of his friends along with the music swelling....brilliant!

Favorite Scene in the Hospital Wing? When Harry has to regrow his arm and Dobby shows up and then Collin gets petrified and Dumbledore and McGonagall bring him in and his camera goes poof and Madame Pomfrey is all like OMG what's happening and Dumbledore is like The Chamber of Secrets is open aaaaaah! and McGonagall is all like dun dun dunnnnn!! And Harry is like WTF!

Favorite Method of Getting to Hogwarts? This video answers it all!

Favorite Patil Twin? Parvati because I love that name. WHEW! DONE! Breathe, breathe, breathe... More questions...

Simon C. Larter asked.... a bunch of questions that I'm worried he won't be my friend anymore after I answer....

1. Favorite restaurant in Philly Tandoor India, because I LOVE Indian food and it's a family tradition-the owners know my parents from when they dated and so we usually get free mango juice when I go there.

2. Favorite vodka Grey goose always goes down the smoothest

3. Favorite kind of sushi/sashimi I don't like sushi, plus I can only actually eat the california rolls and...sorry OMG I'm lame-sorry!

4. Favorite vacation destination--Edinburgh!!! (That should redeem me, Simon, right?) Totally beautiful there, everyone is SUPER friendly, I always felt safe and got to sit in the exact spot that JK wrote Philosopher's Stone in and it's not where they tell the tourists to go!

5. Favorite microbrewery-hehehehe this question has totally sparked a debate on twitter with the #amwritingpeeps and ok I don't drink beer, I'm not even totally sure about what a microbrewery is...so whatever I'm just going to say Greyfriar Bobby's in Edinburgh bc that place was cool and I can supply you with a picture of me and my friend Laura in front of it.

6. Favorite French film Oh thank God-a question I can answer of Simon's and still sound smart. Favorite french film....The Passion of Joan of Arc which is actually a black and white silent film from 1928 but freaking AMAZING  if you ever get the chance to see it-it's unbelievably powerful and emotional and kind of hard to watch and way better than any sort of current Hollywood adaptation that tries to capture the spirit of Joan.

7. Favorite gothic novel (southern or otherwise).
This is a modern gothic that came out a few years ago but it was awesome, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.

Whew....next questioner?

Beth Revis asked...

What made you decide to start teaching?
The truth? Nothing--I know that's horrible. I LOVE teaching, but like a lot of things in my life, it wasn't really a decision I made but an opportunity I jumped on. I've had a lot of jobs--I've been a social worker, a pre-school teacher, currently a librarian and a professor--but writing and dancing are the only two jobs I ever made a conscious decision to pursue, everything else just kind of fell into my lap.

Rhiannon Hart asked...
Do you drink coffee or tea first thing in the morning?  Actually neither---if I have anything in the morning it's either water or a green smoothie. I'm not a tea person--I associate tea with being sick and I never drink coffee---though I do drink too many vanilla soy lattes.

If we peeked in your desk draws, would they be neat or hopelessly jumbled? SO hopelessly jumbled!

Was David Bowie in Labyrinth responsible for your sexual awakening? This makes me giggle everytime I read it and ummmm sorry I hope ya'll keep reading but no he wasn't. Actually he kind of terrifies me in that movie, and still kind of makes me nervous today.

Would you rather have a million dollars or a copy of book three of The Hunger Games RIGHT NOW? So lame, but I'd totally take a million dollars!!! First of all, Suzanne is still working on book 3, so I expect it's not all there yet or edited or anything, and I only want the finished product. Second, I know I will eventually get a copy of HG 3 in my hot little hands, but I'm assuming this million dollar offer is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so bring me the money---BONUS--I could quit all of my jobs and edit faster! Yeah, definitely bring me that money plskthanx!

Angie Kate asked...

What do you do when you get the house all to yourself? Put on horrible pop music and dance around the house in my underwear. It kind of looks like THIS!

(after reading Shannon's blog) Do you think Rob Pattinson is good-looking? (I thought he ruined Goblet of Fire with his back-sloping forehead from the moment he was cast--don't shun me too badly.)
Ok here are my thoughts on Rob Pattinson:

Rob as Cedric....he's cute....whatever I don't really care...

Rob Pattinson when he's just hanging out being Rob Pattinson...
WTF?!!?? Boyfriend needs a shower. Do not want!!!

Rob Pattinson being Edward....
White foundation and red lipstick does not a sex symbol make!

BUT...Rob Pattinson when he has a team of hair, make up, lighting, and a shower?
SWOOON!
SWOOOOOOOOOON!

And more SWOON!

So there you go! Round 1 is OVER!!!! I'm exhausted. See you tomorrow.

  1. I am TOTALLY with you on most of the Harry Potter questions--and completely on Rob Pattinson!

And Luna was the BEST Ravenclaw! I cannot believe anybody said Cho Chang...she was a crybaby. Blech!

Also, I'm very proud that you answered all those questions. And a little freaked out that you did. You're amazing.

  2. I forgot Luna was Ravenclaw and now I totally want to change my answer!!! ARGH!!!

    YAY Harry Potter!

    Yay for torture :)

I'm glad it's my award and I'll never have to go through this!

  3. Hehe I'd totally take the mill too ;)

  4. Mireyah, yay Luna lovers unite!!! Thank you and who knows....maybe you'll be answering these questions later yourself....

Marybeth, yes another for Luna! Harry Potter totally rocks!!! Hehehe your award is awesome though you did actually put yourself through the Harry Potter questions...so you kind of did go through it.

Rhiannon, sweet! When do we get our checks?

  5. LOL. Ah, now you know what I went through. I love it-it's awesome.

Still trying to digest all of that information, but my first take: OMG-we have another weird thing in common! I can't drink tea either and it's because I associate it with being sick. Seriously, Get. Out. Of. My. Head.

Also, my husband is so dead right now! I was trying to answer your HP questions without googling (whenever possible) and he came in and told me Luna was a Gryffindor, and gave me this long story about how one of the illustrations he remembers is Luna in a Gryffindor sweater so I totally changed my answer. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

  6. I laughed so hard through all those R Patz photos. ahaha. thank you so much

  7. Shannon, OMG why did I ever do this to you, aaah!!! And you should come back after you digested and comment with more insights-also you too with the tea? Wierd! And OMG how could your husband tell you that Luna was a Gryfindor-OMG!

Angie, YAY! That makes me happy-I live for the giggles:-) Thanks for asking all the questions!!!

  8. OMG I LOVE Tandoor India! That's, like, my favorite Indian restaurant in Philly! Inexpensive, tasty, Indian comfort food... sweet!

Plus, I just used OMG for the first time ever in a comment. Okay, for the first time ever ever. Why'd I do that? Is it too late to take it back? Yes? Crap.

And, though it totally makes me feel like I'm cheating on Shannon, I'll answer all my own questions.

    1. Fave Philly restaurant = Tequilas, 16th & Locust (Best. Mexican food. Ever.)

    2. Fave vodka = Smirnoff. What? It totally won the NYT taste test!

    3. Fave sushi = (in order) sake, toro, unagi. (salmon, fatty tuna, eel).

    4. Fave vaca destination = since Scotland's home, and not a vacation spot, I'll say Grand Cayman. Mmm... rum cocktails.

    5. Fave microbrewery = Stone Brewery, San Diego, CA. Their Ruination IPA is EPIC!

    6. Fave French film = Le pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf). Serious ass-kicking. In a French film. I know, right?

    7. Fave gothic novel = The Fall of the House of Usher (Poe).

Good on you for taking on the challenge, good lady. I'm looking forward to the rest of the answers. :)

  9. Totally with you on the HP questions. Oh & Rob Pattinson in the pics you posted... um yeah I feel the same way.

Oh as for the sushi thing, don't feel bad you aren't alone. As for beer - CANNOT STAND it. (sorry Simon)
Though I do love a good Vodka.
Oh yeah - love that you made Simon type OMG! ;o)

Great answers cannot wait until tomorrow.

  10. Simon!!!! I feel epic for making you go OMG!!!! Ahahahaha! Loves it!!! And good for you for answering all of your own questions, very interesting...it's like a secret prize of extra interesting things in the comments section.

SP-I know, right?! Too funny and glad you agree with me on the HP and Robisms. I think your questions are up tomorrow, but glad you enjoyed-thanks for reading!!!

  11. I have to say your HP answers were WAY better than Shannon's (sorry Shannon, I promise I still like you and will still read your blog!) OBVIOUSLY Luna was a Ravenclaw, and R.A.B. is probably my favorite Slytherin, too! Although I would have had to slip Snape in there somewhere, and he's definitely not my favorite teacher, because I would have hated to have him. More like "best character study." My favorite scene is his final scene with Harry in Deathly Hallows...that's the scene I always go back to and read over and over again, just because it's so wonderful. ("Look...at...me..." UGH. Heart-wrenching!)

Also, that whole RPattz break-down was pretty much perfect. My thoughts exactly.

Too bad I was so busy today! I bet I could have thought up some evil questions...

  12. Awesome post, but with a few key flaws:
    1. It lead me to realize that Luna DID NOT marry neville! this is not ok. I mean, if she had the epilogue why couldn't she make that perfect too?
    2. I can't really...think of any more

woo harry potter. That was my life until the seventh book came out and I finally realized there were people out there. anyway, i liked most of the questions (where did french film come from?) and it amused me in my procrastination, so thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Heather--OMG does this make me the HP answer Queen? Well maybe bc I wrote those questions....but anyway I'll take the compliment, thanks!!! Also....well there are two more days of questions....so you could slip some in if you wanted...

Ivensive, sorry about Luna/Neville thought you knew that and yay for fun with procrastination!

  15. Okay- so how long did it take you to answer all of those and did you sit with the HP books? Oh my. I love Harry Potter and I don't think I could pull out all that stuff from memory...the specific stuff anyway! The stuff on Rob...oh my. I totally agree, although I admit a few of his scruffy pictures I do love...I went out and bought that mag. with the pictures you posted. My favorite is him sitting with the piano.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi Kelly, It took awhile! But I did do it all from memory so possibly some stuff if all wrong. And yeah Rob cleaned up is super dreamy!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love Luna too. She might be my favorite character of all time.

And I love your pics of Rob -- the last three at least. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. THIS WAS AMAZING! Seriously, I LOVE your HP answers, and I agree with most. And I can't believe the evolution of RPatz! Damn, I wish I had his makeup/lighting/scruff team (or... nix the scruff). And yayyyy Tandoor India!

  19. Well done, Frankie. Well done! *loud clapping and standing ovation* ;-)

  20. Elana, yes! Another Luna lover! I can't believe some people forgot her or mistook her for a Gryfindor, I mean hello! She sneaks Harry into Ravenclaw tower while he's searching for the tiara.

Donna, thank you!!! hehehehe and mmmmmm I think I need to come meet you sometime this week for lunch!

Shannon-I am taking a bow after a comment like that-thank you!

  21. HOT RP pics! Wow. I'm not usually all that into him (except I do love him as Edward...)

Sorry I missed out on the question sessions! I've been off the blogosphere since last Thursdayish... But I love reading your answers :-)

  22. The scene at the edge of the tent where Hermione brushes the top of Harry's head - right after he said (talking about Dumbledore) "I don't know who he loved, Hermione, but it was never me." And then the "touch" and he closes his eyes wishing what she said were true. Totally totally totally got me.

I do love that scene when Ron returns and they retrieve the sword. That entire scene when Ron eventually destroys the locket - brilliant!

My favorite bit of all, though, is when Mrs. Weasley steps in front of Ginny at the end to face Bellatrix. Those infamous words - the only true profanity in the whole book - I still have those goosebumps.
