The No Kiss Blogfest is Coming!!!

I think that we can all say Sherrinda at a Writer Wannabe did a fantastic job creating and hosting the first ever Official Kissing Day Blogfest!

I had so much fun posting my kissing scene, reading your comments and visiting your blogs to check out your kiss scenes that I got an idea...

Totally inspired by Sherrinda, I'd like to announce The No Kiss Blogfest! We'll be posting scenes from our WIPs, favorite books, movies, and tv shows that show the almost kiss-- the rising, crushing, excruciating, longing, tension that comes from when two characters get oh-so-close to kissing that you can just feel it....and then...they don't!

No Kiss Blogfest Jan 2, 2010!
Things You Should Do To Prepare For The Ultimate Non-Kissage Festivities!

1) Sometime between now and Jan 2, 2010 write a post about the No Kiss Blogfest to let everyone know you are participating and that they should too. Why? Because it's awesome!

2) Sign up for No Kiss Blogfest by filling in the Mr. Linky below.  Because Mr. Linky is awesome.

3)Tweet about No Kiss Blogfest, using the hash tag: #nokissblogfest because #hashtagsareawesome

4) After you've recovered from New Years Eve and are over the shock of not being able to write 2.0.0. for the year...but must now start all dates with 2.0.1. write a blog sharing your Almost Kiss, No Kiss Blogfest entry (either one from your WIP, one you just wrote, one from a book, movie or tv show)and post on January 2, 2010!!! Because reading your posts are awesome!

Yay! I'm so excited!!! Are you?

Add yourself to the Mr. Linky, and get ready for No Kiss Blogfest 2010! See you all on January 2nd!

  1. Sounds like FUN! The "almost" kiss is my favorite kind! I don't know that I have another one in my WIP! I may have to write a new one! Or find one... :)

  2. I just so happen to have a couple of those. Sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm not sure I have one of those... Dangit. I guess I let my characters kiss when they want to. Le sigh.

  4. Sherrinda, yay Im so excited to see what you'll post.

Tina Lynn, woohoooo the more the better.

Elana, hahaha! I bet you do have one, it could be a moment of longing, or watching the person from afar, or thinking about it.

  5. Oo, I'm not sure I have one of those...I have some kisses that get interrupted, and I think I might have an almost kiss, but I might have just gone ahead and let them kiss...I just can't hold back, apparently. But I love almost kisses, so I'll either write a scene just for the occasion or just post some of my faves!

  6. Heather- I couldn't hold back either at first and was always giving into my characters but I finally mastered the no kiss (with a ton of help from my critique group). I like to keep the tension running until it hurts. I think a kiss interupted would still qualify---the difference between a kiss and a no kiss is a kiss leaves you satisfied and a no kiss leaves you wanting...

  7. Okay, I felt SO left out today so I'll try to do a flash fiction with a scene from one of my old screenplays or something. Though I must admit, my brain is so in the middle grade zone right now I have feeling it's going to read more like: "He leaned toward her and she backed away. 'What are you doing?' she asked. 'I don't want your cooties!'" But I'll TRY to do better than that. :)

  8. Mine was a no-kiss kiss. Does an accidental/unintentional kiss count?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I have one of those and I am in!

    great idea!

  10. Oh, almost kisses ROCK. I have a lovely tense one between my MC and her boyfriend's half-brother.... *cackles*

  11. I can't wait. I actually just wrote a scene yesterday in my WIP, inspired by yesterday's blogfest! This is perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh look at you! I'm not sure I have a non kiss, but I may be able to make one up. Actually I do think I have a non kiss, I'm just not sure I want to share it yet! LOL

  13. I missed Kissingfest but I'm SO excited about No Kissfest. Great idea!!! I just wrote one of those scenes for my current WIP so I will have to clean it up and share it in 1/2.

  14. Yay Im so excited for everyone's no kiss--basically it's just a tense moment---the no kiss is one of longing, its when you want a kiss whether its close to happening or not. So be creative. I can't wait to read everyone's entries!!!

  15. I had so much fun yesterday that I can't resist this invite. And look at all the cool peeps already signed up! Even if I don't have a scene, I'll write one. Thanks, Frankie.

  16. Heh. I have quite a few of these. I'm so mean.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ooh! I can totally do that. In fact, I can do that right now!

He was standing really close to her. They almost kissed, but they didn't, and then he left. "Bye," he said as the door shut behind him.

    See? Easy, baby!

I might be able to work something up by January, though... :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hmm, will have to see if I can work something up in advance. January 2 is my daughter's birthday, and that pretty much means I give myself over as a slave for the day! But what fun!! The almost kiss can be pretty smokin hot.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What a great idea! I can't wait to read them all! I actually don't have one yet, but I'll see about writing one. Fun!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm so there. I already know what scene I'm going to pick!

    ReplyDelete
  21. This sounds fun! Super excited to read all the tension and longing!

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG I am SO in. I have the *perfect* scene for this one!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanx I'll mark my calendar. Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Simon, ahahahahaha! Please continue posting your romantic efforts in my comments-the blogosphere's best kept secret!!!

Yay everyone I am SO excited that you're all participating!! Woot!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't wait for this, though I don't know that I have a scene that qualifies. I'll have to work one up I guess. Like Elana, I guess I always let my characters kiss!

But this will definitely be incentive to work an almost-kiss into the WIP!

  27. Alright, I'm going to find an almost kiss in my novel... or write one for you... but this is going to be so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  28. This sounds cool! I have just the scene in mind...hope you don't mind some fanfic, but it was the best such I've ever written.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Of course I am excited!! Let's keep this going beyond! I love to share my WIPs with everyone--especially the sexual tension I love to force my MCs to go through! Muahahahaa!!

Ah, the joys of being a writer...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I look forward to reading all of these blog posts, just as I did with everyone's awesome kissing scenes! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yay everybody-thanks for promoting and participating and getting excited--your excitment makes me excited!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dude I was 29th on Sherrinda's list too I think! haha

    Great idea :-)

PS check out what you've got on my blog xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh we are SO in. I've got the perfect scene from Pemberly Brown. Hoorah!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ohhh this will be good fun! Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, Mr Linky is cacheing -Lordy! is that a word? Caching? I hope my link gets listed. Now we spread the word in myriad avenues and dark alleys, then we write the No Kiss scene into our own blog? How does Frankie see it?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Glad to have you, Kate! It looks like your link worked through Mr. Linky-I'll be able to see it by visitng your blog on Jan 2nd through the linky links.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm sooo EXCITED for this! One of my upcoming WIP chapters is specifically based upon a no-kiss!! Look forward to reading everyone else's fav's as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yay Charlie! Glad to have you, I'm sooooo excited!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh!! I want to play, Frankie, but I don't have an "almost" kiss scene. *pouts* *the adults ignore* *throws tantrum*

    Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This will be fun. All 8 people following my blog can enjoy reading my entry.

    Great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  41. can't wait to read all your amazing scenes ! (:

    ReplyDelete
  42. This looks really fun, though I think I will have to write something new for it. The only almost-kiss I've written so far is a scene where my 15-yo MC has an encounter with a college-aged perv. Not exactly romantic!

    ReplyDelete
  43. This will be fun-- I have the perfect characters in actually 2 wips, so now all I have to do is decide which ones to use.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Okay, I'm game! Sounds like a challenge. I don't have anything written and honestly I've never written a "no kiss" scene before in my life. If nothing else, this should be interesting :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. I read about this on several blogs and decided I better check it out. I may or may not participate, but I can't wait to read everyone else's No Kiss scenes. Great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh i have just the perfect scene for this :D Yum!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I loved your No Kiss Blogfest idea so much, I wrote a no kiss scene just for the occasion!
    What fun!

    ReplyDelete
  48. AAAAHHHH DIIIIIIID EEEEEEEETTTT!

    ReplyDelete
  49. OK, I did it...but I accidentally linked to my kissing scene...so hopefully people will find my no kissing scene? It's up now. Oh, dear.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OK, so I posted myself again, linking to the correct scene...sorry, everyone! And thanks, Frankie, for doing this!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Several of the bloggers at my site, GeekaChicas, have expressed an interest in posting no-kiss scenes, or discussions of their favorite No Kiss scenes in books, TV shows or movies. I'm excited to see what we end up with today!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I forgot to leave a comment...hmmm Of course I'm participating. Do we just post one scene, or can we post two? And anytime today...right?

    Hi, by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I just found out about this today but I'm signing up anyway because I missed the kissing day one. Hope that's okay! What a fun idea!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Call me crazy, but I signed up again...

    Thanks, Frankie!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Signed up! Hope everyone likes my no-kiss scene. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I signed up! I'm so excited! Let the No Kiss Blogfest begin! :D

  57. OK, I've bit.

Looking forward to read what everyone else has written and hear what y'all think of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Frankie!

Would it be weird to repost my 'no kissing' scene in my blog? I have posted so much since and I thought it might be easier for my readers to get to it without having to scroll down so far...

    What do you think???

    ReplyDelete
  59. Saw Myra's post and thought I'd share too. What fun! Can't wait to go through and read them all.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love when people don't kiss. (No, seriously, I think this beat the kiss fest. The tension is palpable!)

My almost-kiss is up, late in the day but UP nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I was a bit late posting mine, but it's there now! Being in the Southern Hemisphere, I got the day mixed up. But it's there now!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hi! I went on ahead and reposted it to avoid scrolling and stumbling around in my blog! :) Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I didn't know about this until today (the 3rd), so I was a day late, but it was just too fun, and I had to join in

    ReplyDelete
  64. So was the second of January the deadline to submit/share your own almost-kiss? Wish I would have heard about this earlier! I, along with the other ladies commenting and sharing their almost-kisses, enjoy reading and writing the kisses that are thisclose to happening before the conscious of one of the participating individuals tugs and the moment is lost but never forgotten.
