Well I'm on a Rachel Vincent binge fest. I finished Rogue...and aaah now I have to get through book 3 of the Werecats, Pride! Also I read the prequel to her upcoming YA series My Soul To Take, which is called My Soul To Lose and you can read it for FREE right here.
I think I definitely preferred Stray (book 1) to Rogue, but I'm still helplessly addicted to this series (which means unfortunately that I'm writing a little bit less this week). But that's ok, because reading is also part of the writing and craft process and it's really fascinating to look at the ways our heroine Faythe's character develops and the choices she makes. It's really helping me to look at my own heroine and look at the way Lilliana is changing through the course of my story-and she changes a lot! When I look back at the begining of my story-she is really a different person in chapter 12 then she is in chapter 1 (but hopefully she isn't done changing because what fun would that be if she grew and stopped in the middle of the book!).
So I'd say I'm still getting my work done. I'm currently working on chapter 14 and pretty pleased with it so far. I'm finally out of my "OHMYGOD" chapter 13 is so hard to write phase. And this one is flowing naturally and also allowing me to tie up some loose strings/pay off a few "I owe yous"-as my awesome writing professor Dr. Wertime would say- that I set up in the first few chapters. So I'm happy about that.
Here's my current page count and word count which is starting to worry me since I recently saw a discussion about word counts that agents will accept and if I write the rest of what I have planned...I'm going to be well over that limit, though then again-when looking at other books of my genre, I'm not really outside the realm of possibility and rules were meant to be broken, right...
Well it's not like I can't edit it down later if I have to (although I've noticed in my rewrites that I tend to write even more-not less). I just have to put that thought aside, because all that matters is getting to write -The End.
So Word Count:90, 186
Page Count: 313
Eeekk!
